There is a missing fuel tank strap reinforcement recall for 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 10, 2016 to Sept. 17, 2016.
Recall concerning the doors that may not close properly. The issue, affecting some 830,000 vehicles, centers on the pawl spring tab in the side door latch. This recall is for 2017 Super Duty vehicles built at Kentucky Assembly Plant, Oct. 8, 2015 to Sept. 1, 2016 only.
I`ve never had any problems but it looks like my 2016 Lariat SuperCrew is on the list because sometime yesterday or last night, I received said "Recall" notice via the Ford Pass App.
I logged onto the App this morning and there it was.
Good to hear that Ford is taking care of this issue.
This does affect all 2015-16 F150s, but only 2017 F150s built until 12-30-16 or 12-31-16. I dodged a bullet with my truck, it was built in January 2017!
The fix is adding some sort of shield to protect the latch mechanism from water (and then ice). Certainly sound like they would have to remove the panel as well as (at least part of) the plastic water shield.
I'm always nervous about a dealership taking anything apart on my vehicles - always end up with scratches, dents, dings, broken clips, etc.
Any idea what's involved in performing this recall? Do they have to pull the door panels?
I checked Ford Pass and it shows two recalls for me, the 'Door Latch Concern' 17S33 and 'Left Hand Rear Seatbelt Buckle Inspection' 17C12.
I've received no mail concerning either of these.
Door panel will have to come off to do the repair. Ford is not sending letters for the recall until Nov.6th. Parts are not available for the fix.
If the other recall is 17C12 (Left-Hand Rear Inflatable Seatbelt Buckle Inspection) then it is a big pain in the a$$ do to Ford not having parts for the fix and if you take the truck in to the dealership and it doesn't pass the test then they are suppose to try and not let you have the truck back do to it being a safety issue with a seat belt. Others have found ways around it but I don't know what they did. Not trying to scare you on this. There is a STOP sale on any truck on the dealership lot that didn't pass the test.
According to FordPass mine is included. Dangit. Haven't had any problems here in N. TX. May not bother with it.
Sunbelt states may not ever have an issue, but the snow belt states sure will. 1st winter after getting our truck we had issues with the remote opening/locking doors, had to use key each time.

I`m in the same boat as you and I might not even bother with it.
I live in GA and from the complaints that i`ve read about, it seems like the owners who have had the problems are in States where they have harsh winters or colder climates such as Canada.
