I didn’t get as much done this weekend as I hoped to. Our accross the street neighbor had a hip surgery and couldn’t get into his waterbed. Wes and I spent to mid-day chasing down material to make his a step and another few hours on the step it’s self. It’s built out of 2x6 and plywood. We put a vinyl wrap on it with staples and self adhesive spray. The most time was watching the glue dry...
That was the extent of our Saturday.
I had to fab the brackets for the A/C condenser to set closer to the radiator and not interfere with the header panel of the grill. Keep in mind, this is the first time I’ve ever tried to do any parts replacement from the major wrench she was in in 97, other than a fender and hood. Even those were halfassedly aligned. I was angry, replaced the immediate item and parked it against the fence for 15 years.
So, there’s a sneak peek at the grill. If you blow up the pictures, I think you’ll see how it all ties together. I’m waiting on some parts to come in to fully assemble the grill, plus there’s a cool custom dodad I have in mind. I’ll see how that turns out before posting.
Being at a stand sill on that, I started getting ready for the mad scientist Ultra brake kit. I kinda over did it and went to bed with a sore shoulder.
If the truck has essentially been on hold for a while, waiting a little while longer isn't going to make too much difference while you let your shoulder heal. Over doing it is just going to make matters worse on you. Give your shoulder time to heal so that you don't make the injury worse to the point you can't work on the truck ....or pretty much anything else.
I have to agree. It takes a long time for shoulders to heal, but they do get better! I hurt mine several times throwing the ball around. The last time I thought I'd ripped it completely playing dodgeball. I had to take a year off from almost everything. I remember tweaking it several times rebuilding the drums and converting to power brakes. Even turning the wrench could put pressure on it depending on the angle.
Teach, on the shoulder I would get a second opinion and an MRI to see what is really wrong. I went about 10yrs with nursing it till one day if got real bad. My two cents is don't wait too long buddy.
WARNING ! TIT & TOT.. DO NOT PULL HIS FINGER...WHILE THE SHOULDER IS HEALING.
Or any other time either... 22X on the let it heal..
But on the serious side, all the patience advice is correct. Overdoing things is for youth, not wise for those over 50, and 40 in some cases.. Remember, Steve is right, you have the rest of your life, and you do not want to rush to the end...
I NEED some preventative maintenance done on my HD F250 super duty. The suburban was the back up. With TOTs T/A under the knife, Wes drives it. **** was driving the Green Hornet while his truck was under the knife, exposing a rad. leak and a brake fluid soaked booster. **** truck is up and running. Mamma, well nobody drives her SUV. The Green Hornet is the back up. Er needs to be.
My guys on the job site won’t let me work either....
WOW amigo, I love that color. Very unique and that is some serious attention to detail. That booster will set your engine compartment way above the normal. Dang, I was just looking forward to better brakes with mine, now, you have raised the bar...
It is. The booster has 7 coats of primer (3 passes=1 coat) sanded in between to fill the pits.
The emblem is painted from the back from the factory and the “Ranger” is embossed in the plastic. I sanded off the red with 180, followed up with 320 and finaled with wet 600. The plastic will become clear as the chrome remains. Paint until coverage and reapply a silver backer for pop.
I was going to wet sand and buff the green on the booster, but I didn’t want to take the time. That and I was concerned about the rattle can clear not holding up.
Being lazy and cheep, I didn’t buy base coat and clear nor did I want to fire up the paint gun.
