My 450 doesn't have either of the plates...but the wire connector is there. Have power boards, is it the connector for lights on a solid running board? If so, what is proper connection to fit it?
Thanks,
Joe
I think if you don't know, don't guess. It just lengthens the thread for no reason. Now we're reading 5+ pages of people making stuff up and still have no answer. 15 mins of my life I'll never get back. haha.
the majority of the post have claimed side impact, and the trucks with two plates are covering fuel tanks and fuel connections. so I would not say this is a guess. if you don't agree then give a better reason and not aliens.

Certainly not disagreeing but what confuses me as I have been following this thread since the beginning is there has been no solid truck configuration (Reg, SC, CC, SB, LB, Gas, Diesel, FX4/Non-FX4) that always has one or two plates. The only one so far seems is duallies don't have either plate.

I am not guessing, what I was referring to is published by Ford. There is a diagram which shows the brackets along with a description. If Ford doesn’t know then no one will.
Everyone will hate me for this....but the documentation states PICKUP BOX DELETEvehicles....required for compliance. None of ours are Box Deletes. And once a body is installed onto the rear, they may be removed if there is interference and still maintain compliance. Regardless, this does finally confirm their purpose (thank you, SteelCity). So I guess the OP can remove them since his is not a Box Delete truck.
