I guess I'll have to eat my words. Earlier I commented about my lower fuel mileage in my '17. Well, that got me thinking, so I went back and calculated my mileage for my 2013 F-350. When I traded it in, it had 60820 miles. I had put in 5410 gallons of diesel. Which is 11.24 mpg overall. My 2017 as of Tuesday has 6036 miles and used approximatedly 511gallons for an 11.8 mpg overall. Although very hard to compare as who knows what % is towing, for either truck. Obviously not 2 mpg difference between the two.
I stopped at my dealer and talked to two mechanics and they tell me that GM had a similar deal a few years back. if you look at the rear bracket it is at a location where the frame turns up and exposes the side of the Gas tank this is to protect it from side impact. as for the other one not sure my truck CCLB only has the rear, so they don't know.
The two brackets that hang off the lower left side of the frame by the fuel tank and fuel conditioner.
first thought maybe for camper mounts but they are only on one side so that can't be it.
they are ugly and I'm going to remove them if they aren't useful to me.
can you see what is behind the front plate I see some connections toward the front of it this plate looks to be protecting it from side impact
