The two brackets that hang off the lower left side of the frame by the fuel tank and fuel conditioner.
first thought maybe for camper mounts but they are only on one side so that can't be it.
they are ugly and I'm going to remove them if they aren't useful to me.
I only have the rear one. I have the 6.2 gasser 34g tank. Looks like a protector for the tank if you high-center. At the rear one I have the frame goes up and there is nothing to protect the tank if the truck settles on something there. Just my .02$.
I only have the rear on on my F350 6.2 but I do have the FX4 package which gives me the skid plates. I just went out and looked at mine and there is no connection between this piece and how the skid plate connects.
I have no idea what it is for.
If they were consistent on both sides I would wildly guess used by upfitters or running boards. I do not see any in your pic, do you have boards? My truck has the rear most only, power running boards, SB, CC, diesel.
I do not have running boards or steps, nothing is bolted to them. mine is a supercab so I only have the small tank.
Lower vehicle impact protection from that side could be a possibility.
The one with 4X4 stamped on it, is described as a chassis mounting bracket in the parts book. No other info. It does have a fuel system base part number. I can't make out enough of the stamping number on the other one to tell what it is.
