My ID tag shows I have a 4X4 but the last letter in door tag shows I have no front axle. Am I reading this correctly? If not, can someone tell me correctly?
H2A=(H2) Ford 9" 3.50 limited slip rear w/3,750 lb capacity (A) Adustable steering column w/ power steering.
Ford is always kinda "sketchy" with the front axle info coded on the data plate. Rarely gives the ratio or ID info.
Also, "adjustable steering column" means you have tilt steering.
Yes, everything else describes my truck as what it is, but the A makes it look like my truck was a 2WD and been made a 4WD.
Not really. The "A" code just refers to the steering (power with tilt wheel). The same code was used on both 2 and 4 WD. Granted there is no info on the actual axle itself but that's Ford.
The VIN beginning with F14 shows that it's a factory 4WD.
Another verification that its factory 4WD is the model number. On the warranty plate its "TYPE/GVW" and shows F140. In the Ford master parts catalog that crosses over to an F150 4WD pickup with 6050 lb GVW.
Perfect! I have a trailer special emblem on the tailgate. Is anything on warranty plate verify that?
Nope. If you really want to know as much as possible on how your truck was equipped when it left the factory, get a Marti Report. This will have a ton of info on your trucks options, paint, production dates, selling dealer, etc. https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm
