Can anyone tell me the axle code for a 76 F100 with H7J, and a 79 with a code of 06J? I found the codes for the 78 -79 ID plates but not for the "J". The are original trucks so the tags are actual. The J is for the front axle but both trucks are 2WD's. Is the J for the 2WD?
Ford doesn't seem put the fornt axle code on any Rating plate.
They only need to out the rear axle because if it is a 4x4, a automotive educated person knows that it has to be the same or marginally different ratio for the front
ie:
3.54 Rear / 3.54 Front
4.11 Rear / 4.10 Front
As Jimmy stated. the J stands for power steering with a NON-Tilt column
But if the truck had Power steering and a Tilt Column that code is X
Thanks for the replies. I got under the truck and got the gunk off enough to read the tag. The H7 has the 3L25 tag. I have several of these trucks one being a 78 F150 with an axle code of 11J. I cant find an 11 on the web page and the tag is missing off of the rear. Is there a sight that gives the 73-77 id codes?
