Normal IPR/ICP?

Hi guys,
Normally lurk over at the 6.0 side of things......long story short have a 2000 that owner was complaining of random shutting down scenario, but would start back up every time.
After some lurking thought it might be the CPS, so got the Forscan up and starting checking some things during a drive.
WOT I would see upper 30's IPR and ICP around 2000
Hot idle the ICP 475 and IPR around 8, sometimes a touch lower..........this IPR reading seems low to me but I know very little about the 7.3

No codes, and after looking under the truck appears the CPS is not that old, however I don't know if it's OEM or not.
It is overfull on oil, does not smell of fuel though, and due for a change.

Anyone have any clue what I might look at?

Check the nut on the end of the IPR to make sure it is tight. It could be missing completely.

See if the ICP sensor is leaking oil into the plug. You can unplug it to see if the truck runs better. You will get a CEL when you do this.

I agree that IPRDC seems a bit low.

This truck sounds like it may have more than one issue with ICP, but the advice from jhl3 is the best place to start.

Found the ICP dry as a bone and IPR nut there and tight
Is it worth it to clean the IPR?
I think it's time for more data perhaps

Did you unplug the ICP sensor and leave it unplugged for a test run to see if symptoms improved?

Also, take a can of compressed computer key board air, invert it and spray the coil on the IPR until it is frosty then test to see if that changes anything. If the truck runs better then it is probably the coil on the IPR. Tugly has an excellent explanation as to why this happens. If that works, cleaning the IPR will not cure this issue.

The only problem is the truck runs great. I have not been able to duplicate the random shut down. No misfires, no codes.

I would like to know however if 8% is low for hot idle, I even see it dip to 7.5% while coming down to a stop, maybe that is normal just before it shifts up to 1st gear.

Cruising 60mph flat ground I see 940 ICP and 15 IPR
WOT is around 2800 and 37
Hot idle was around 470 and 8.1 give or take.
Those numbers look ok to you 7.3 guys? I don't have clue, am used to 6.0 numbers so it throws me for a loop

Those numbers are in line with a stock rig. The IPR is ever-so-slightly low at idle, but that doesn't even raise an eyebrow... and oil quality and age can change that.

It's due for a change that I know for sure......

Can anyone tell me what fitting I need to come off the upper test port of the fuel bowl to check pressures? Might as well since I have it at home.

If no one replies - but I'm sure someone will - it's the same size as the HPOP reservoir plug. So if you have a Parker store nearby, you can stop in, pull that plug, take it inside and someone there will get you a fitting that adapts to an 1/8" NPT fitting for your gauge. I got the HF 18" grease whip and a 0-200 psi liquid gauge and used those. Works fine, and I used it to measure both fuel pressure and LPOP pressure in the reservoir.

Appreciate the reply, I'm going to check the local NAPA store here in town(not holding my breath, they don't have squat from what I have seen). From what I can tell after digging around is it's a #4 ORB fitting. Not too common so I might just order one if I can't find it locally.
