Some guys were asking if they were screwed with the stock Sony. Definitely not, you just have to spend some money to fix the Sony DSP bs. Unless you can tap the sound coming straight out of the ACM, I think this is the only route.

You'll need a summation DSP like the Audison Bit Ten. It will take the Sony signal, sum it and equalize it all out to a flat signal, then it will customize that signal to your trucks specifics or your liking. Its really amazing the difference these make when you have some nice speakers and a good amp hooked up. The Bit Ten is the lower end model that is about $350 (but will do everything you guys need). You can get higher end models that come with optical outs/ins, amps built in, etc. but they all start pushing $800-1000 really fast.

Install is easy peezy. All your current speaker wires will run to the Audison. RCAs will run from the Audison to your newly installed amps. New speaker wire will run from your amps to your new speakers. Crack a beer and enjoy some world class tunes.

I've read elsewhere that FORSCAN can eliminate the DSP effects in the Sync/Sony systems with a couple of small changes. It will clean up the signal for aftermarket amps and DSP. Anyone tried this on the 2017 Super Duty? Wondering if it would have any effect on making the OEM system sound better without upgrade?

There is a guy on the mustang forum that does this. Ill ask if he has done it on the trucks.

We should be able to just tell sync that you don't have a Sony system, but I don't think we've found that in Forscan yet. If that guy has found it in Forscan and is charging for it....

Thanks again for the tips Chris! I'll be purchasing the Bit Ten D today. I'll keep you posted.

Not trying to jack the thread, but this is a stereo thread so here goes. Has anyone tried to fit a shallow 12" speaker in a 2017 superduty crew? I do not have the sony system so my plan is to splice into rear speakers and send high level input into my Rockford P500X2 amp. My buddy has a shallow 12 with an underseat box built for a 2015 f150 crew he is giving me, i'm not sure if it will fit but I have to remove the underseat storage box. I would MUCH rather put that 12 behind the seat instead. No one on ebay etc seems to be making any boxes for the 17's yet? Wonder if I could squeeze one back there?

My shallow 10" barely fits. I doubt there is any way to get one to fit behind the seat

I fit 2 shallow 10's back there. Had to build my own box with fiberglass and wood. But it was pretty straightforward. 10's were really the deepest I could go, unless you can find a 12 that's the same depth.

I too wanted to go behind the seat and could not find anything to fit properly, I now have 2 JL 10w3 v3's under the seat in a ported box and can honestly say it was the way to go, I would not have been happy with less

It's so funny cause I don't have the Sony system and I was thinking yesterday that my stock system wasn't too bad. Now, it's very weak. But it's clear. So can't really complain about it. I wonder if the Sony is an improvement over my stock system or some how a downgrade?

Tricon what are the measurements on your box? Thinking of going with this jl 12" if it will fit, or may have to drop down to the 10" version

It's hard to say, my box is a trapezoid, so my top plane of the box is less than that JLs, but my bottom plane is deeper. What's the depth of the 10" box?

I'll try to measure my box at the height of that one and see if it's less than 5" deep. If I remember correctly, I think that JL should fit. Local stereo shop should have one to see if it'll fit. You will probably need to cut the rear wall carpet, it's easy with a razor blade, I actually cut mine with some regular scissors.
