I have followed everything by the directions and so far have everything done to the point I now need to either go into Forscan and get the directions or take to the dealer to enable Blind spot which would be best for me, the question is..... are techs at the dealership knowledgeable enough to enable this process which they would do with IDS, has anyone had the dealers do this process, please let me know what you think, otherwise is there a step by step for Forscan that I could look at, have done small items in Forscan but nothing big, this is for a 2017 F350 dually, thanks in advance for anyone’s help with this.

Cbenn I received your private message but you can not attach photos there. It should be a change in the IPC. Here is an email I received and used as a go by. Hope this helps.

Hey Roly Poly! Finished installing the BLIS tail lamps, mirrors are up next.

Would you mind sending me the Forscan codes to enable BLIS? I have a 2017 350 Lariat SRW.
Much appreciated!

For Educational Purposes only. Also the configuration will vary depending on how you truck is equipped.

BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION

Roly

IPC:
720-01-01 xxxx xxxx 7xxx - CTA Present

720-03-01 6xxx xxxx xxxx - BLIS enabled

There's also another value in IPC for Trailer BLIS but without knowing your as-built values I'm not sure if this would be correct for your truck

IPC 720-09-01 8000 0100 08 or 720-09-01 8000 0180 09 - (the 9 enables the lane keeper, 08 removes the menu)

DDM/PDM: (This enables the light in the mirror)
740/741-04-01 F400 xx - Turn Signals, Puddle Lamps & BLIS

OR
740/741-04-01 74xx xx - Turn Signals & BLIS - without Puddle Lamps

SODL/SODR (This enables the radar modules)
7C4-01-01 xxx2 xxxx BLIS/CTA enabled
7C6-01-01 xxx2 xxxx BLIS/CTA enabled

You need to code your VIN in these modules in order for the modules to talk to the other modules in your truck.

Sample VIN: 1FT8W3BT3HED13111

Convert ASCII to Hex
https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/...ii-to-hex.html

Sample VIN coded for SODL/SODR (make sure you do both the right and left modules)
7C4/7C6-08-01 3146 5438 57xx
7C4/7C6-08-02 33xx
7C4/7C6-09-01 4254 3348 45xx
7C4/7C6-09-02 44xx
7C4/7C6-10-01 3133 3131 31xx

Any other ways to check?

I'm still looking for a truck. Is there any other way to check on one I'm looking at buying? I can't exactly pop things off someone else's truck lol
Any years to stay away from, like prior to 2015 wont have the wiring, etc?

When I upgraded to the LED's I had to order and replace the rear wiring harness to support the rear LED's. If your planning on keeping the halogens then you should be fine. One quick way to see if you have all the wires needed will be to remove the black mirror trim piece on the inside of the door to expose the connector from the door to the tow mirror. If you have the 22 pin connector and wires in pin 13 & 20 you will be good to go. It will just be a matter of swapping the top mirror glass out on each mirror so you have the orange dot indicator and a using Forscan to code a few modules in order to get it to operate. You will have to run 2 wires inside your tow mirrors to get power to the led indicator. I took my truck to my local car stereo shop and they ran
the wires for me. It's a lot more economical than replacing each mirror that already has the wires. (about $750 ea. vs. $80 at the car stereo place). The top glass itself with BLIS will run about $75 ea. There is another forum user who can help you with giving you those values to change if you are familiar with using Forscan? I will be more than happy to assist as I just finished this project 2 weeks ago and it works as it should with no problems. I will try to send some photos when I get a chance for install.
Edited:

I want to say thank you for all of you that provided this information.

I've read this thread and others countless times. I'm missing something somewhere.

I swapped to LED tail lights and BLIS, changed the harness, moved the two wires. They work great.

I pulled the wires through the mirror and wire in, hook everything up and then program with forscan. I update the modules with the correct vin and adjust the parameters in the 5 areas necessary. BLIS/CTA are options in the IPC (not trailer BLIS) and I get this code: B11D6:15:AB

The code is circuit short to battery or open.

I've been over the wiring a bunch. I've been looking through Forscan. I am totally lost. If anyone is still looking at this I would love some help.

Would you be able to send the codes as well? I have blis already and replaced a sensor and now I need to use forscan to reprogram the new module. I’m getting the same error codes. Just don’t know what needs to be changed.

Just trying to see if anyone would know if this would work on a 2020 F350 stx? My mirror connectors do have wires populated in pin 13 and 20.

Recently added BLIS to my 2018 XLT Super Duty

Hello all..

After reading this thread numerous times I finally took the plunge and added BLIS to my XLT with halligen headlights. I sourced the BLIS tail lights ,mirrors SODL/SODR & brackets from ebay. The harness came from my local dealer. I can confirm this can be done on an XLT truck for anyone out there wondering. Once everything was together the SODR would ghost flash From time to time. Turns out the SODR and bracket I bought off ebay was actually a left hand bracket. I noticed that this bracket would not go over the plastic guide pins in the tail light and became suspicious. After ordering the right hand bracket from Ford all works well including the trailer Blind spot.
I wanted to post this in case anyone else is having the ghost flashing issue. Check to see that you have the appropriate bracket in your taillight because they are Not interchangeable however can be inanadvertently swapped.
BTW: The mirrors on the 2020 & up SD, the symbology itself flashes in the mirror as opposed to the round dot below the symbology in the 17- 19 models. I can confirm that these new mirrors for the 2020 Models will plug and play into the older 17 and up trucks. A little OCD, I know, I just think the symbology flash looks better. Truth be told , I butchered one of my mirrors trying to run the wires, Hence taking a gamble on this purchase. Fortunately it worked out.

Also wanted to say thank you to Rolly Poly, Zoo Dad & and others I failed to mention for writing this up and making this possible for me.

so I have the 22 pin connector and the 13/20 like you said I also added the led tail lights upgrade that come with the sod monitots as well and ended up getting a really good deal for a pair of mirrors with spot light, puddle light, auto fold, auto in and out which I don’t care about and the side detection so far I got the puddle light and spot lights to work as of right now I’m having trouble with the auto fold and side detection not working any idea on FORScan ??

I had same forscan error when I added power folding mirrors to my 19 f250, ended up replacing ddm and pdm with modules out of a loaded f250 (had same part number as my current modules), then I was able to activate the mirrors in forscan without issue.
