Driving the other day, trans temps 180 or so, all other temps normal. I was pulling a grade at 70ish unloaded, and lost almost all power like the engine lost all of its fuel pressure. Pull over a mile or so up the road, check and the trans fluid is ok, (but od light is flashing). Wait about 30 minutes or so, fired it up again and runs fine the rest of the 2 hour trip. Then about 10 minutes from getting back home it out of nowhere starts doing it again.(loss of power, can only go about 5 mph, stalls out if i try going faster with it, od light flashing) I pull over on the side of the highway and im getting codes 529, 334, (634/624...cant remember what one)...sit and wait for it to cool off and then drives fine. Been doing it the last few days, shifts smooth as butter when cold but when temp gets to about 170 it starts acting crazy. And the only code im getting now is 624 in koeo, no koer codes. Any ideas on what to check first? Truck is a 95 f350 460 with an e4od, transmission is just barely out of warranty from 2 and 1/2 years ago.
Code 624 is the problem. You have either a bad EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid or a damaged wire to the solenoid. If the signal is shorted to ground you have minimal pressure and engine power is cut to keep from destroying the trans.
Ended up pulling out my pcm and taking it apart and i found a toothpaste like substance on it. Cleaned that, tightened up a loose ground wire, and cleaned the connector on the side of the trans. Drove it about 100 miles and drove perfectly fine...hopefully it stays that way
