Also, If you are ever up this way check out all the chain saw carvings in Chetwynd - there are over 200 all throughout town. We just missed this year's competition as we had to delay our travel by a week.
A few shots from the east side of the Canadian Rockies on our way in to Jasper today. I need to remember to move that darn park pass - didn't realize it was reflecting as much as it is..... Bighorn sheep politely waiting to cross the Trans-Canada highway... Athabasca river Another group of Bighorn sheep
Took a late afternoon drive from Whistlers campground to Maligne Lake at Jasper yesterday and saw a Momma Grizzly thoroughly enjoying herself. After causing a traffic snarl she climbed up the hill a little ways and positioned herself to watch all the tourons go crazy.... which they did until the park ranger came by and shooed them back in their cars. I had my telephoto handy so watched a safe distance away from the tourons....
Bear 222 watching the traffic mess she created.....
Finally had to start making the trip south towards home today. About 45 minutes south of Kamloops near the top of the pass we came across a scene right out of "Heavy Rescue: 401". Not sure if it was wind-related or not, but we'd been in a heavy headwind with gust upwards of 45 km/h since leaving Kamloops. Finally called it a day once we got off the mountain so sitting in a RV park in Merritt, BC for the evening. Forecast looks better for tomorrow morning. Save travels out there!
Coming down from Goat Mtn. it is aptly named, first few miles are just rough rocky road, then last couple are gnarly, 16* down and 13* side has a little bit of pucker factor, and adds nice manzanita racing stripes down the sides 🤦♂️🤣 4-Lo and 1st keeps it controlled not exactly from the windshield.. ground was super sloppy when we got there in evening, was nice and frozen solid in the early AM when we headed up the mtn From the windshield of Ms. Kitty, still doesn't capture the intense angle On the way home from earlier escapade, barely made it over the 80 before they closed it due to wrecks, I was in 4-Hi and 1st and was puckering more than Goat mtn. super duper slick
John Brown Bridge over the Little Wood River near Richfield, ID. I thought about dropping a line in but it seemed like it might be an irrigation canal (there is one nearby). I had to come back to camp where I have Internet so I could research it. I'm not sure it's worth buying a license.
