Pictures From Your Windshield

Have you snapped an interesting picture through your windshield? Post it up here!

My wife took this picture while we were headed west up I-70 in Colorado (aka The Ike Gauntlet).

Windshield video today. This herd of Elk literally ran up from behind me just to cross in front of me and stand next to the road on the other side... They surprised me because I had not passed them, they caught me and I was driving nearly 30. Pretty cool sight. I bet io saw 500 head of elk today and a Bull Moose! Moose from the sled, no windshield on that.

I'm morbidly curious about the story behind that sticker. Something significant has to drive somebody to put a decal of that size with that statement on their vehicle.

Heroin is such a problem around here that most people know at least one person affected. Virtually every Fire/Police/EMS service in the state is equipped with Narcan on-board the vehicles (Narcan reverses the effects of a heroin overdose). We are now spending tax-payer dollars building "safe houses" (staffed by a nurse!) where junkies can shoot up "safely" with "clean heroin" and have the EMT nearby to assist if they overdose. There are also no questions asked "drop off" points for dirty needles, sometimes even at the police department. In recent years, many areas have seen a sharp rise in break-ins and assault-robbery in order for the addicts to get what they need. The big target is guns. Much of the heroin comes from down country (NY, MA, CT) and those places are tough to obtain guns. But in NH and VT, guns are pretty easy to come by and so the game is "steal in NH, sell in MA." Dealers in MA are more than happy to trade weapons for drugs.

For example, I was driving past my work place coming back from a late-night event. I saw a strange car in our parking lot. I pulled in to investigate. It was someone putting a needle in their arm. This is a fairly common sight at grocery stores, Wal-Mart, etc. Police are spread thin. Drug transactions take place all over town in places like public parks, boat landings, parking lots, etc. It's really a shame, but I think I can understand the sticker on this F-150. Maybe the driver knows someone, or maybe he / she is just fed up. Of all places in the country, who would have thought NH and VT would have the highest drug overdose rates in the country.

New Orleans is becoming a cesspool being a sanctuary city...gutter punk kids..illegals and nightly shootings mostly over drugs have ruined this city. Many people are staying away because of this...drugs and booze are running rampant down here and the mayor does nothing to stop it. Murder capitol of the U.S. and it's getting worse.

Too bad about NOLA. I don't understand why there is so much support for 'sanctuary cities.' We were all immigrants once, but all the new Administration wants is for people to come in legally and for the illegals to be sent back and do it the right way.

I think Chicago has the murder rate award, though.

My Dad's side came over from the Canary Islands(Spain) in the late 1700's when Spain controlled Louisiana and was part of New Spain and later became part of the U.S. My Cajun side came from France and Nova Scotia and were chased out and sent to French Louisiana. Two of my Great Grandparents came over in the late 1800's from Genoa Italy to escape from all the political BS going on in that country. They spoke Italian..French and English. Lot's of Cajuns still speak French but English is the primary language. Unique area down here and people still live off the land.

Not my superduty windshield luckily, but we had a bad storm go through town the other day, took out a ton of trees, and power lines.

That reminds me of a saying we had about cars and trucks when I was in high school....

Dang Paw, I didn't know you guys had any bodies of water over there with a sandy bottom. We'll be in Barrataria in September fishing for a couple of days. We went last year and slayed the reds. Our guides were great and funny as hell. Love that Cajun accent. BTW, that's a fine looking rig you have there too.

Close to the gulf we do...inside bays mostly muddy with oyster shells sometimes. Years ago I fished that area Lafitte/Barataria and with the brackish water you can bass fish and catch speckled trout or redfish in the same spot. I'd launch at Joe's landing or the Goose Bayou bridge on the Lafitte side. We have a fishing camp in Grand Isle so I'm there a lot...still go to Lafitte pretty often. Thanks for the compliment...spending my kids and grandkids inheritance is fun!!!
