Shenandoah National Park on Skyline Drive, looking south towards Stony Man. A bit above 4,000 feet, but that’s high for us east coasters. Evening serenity and gorgeous sunset with the wife. This truck is incredible....
Four of us were in the truck at the time. Had parked on the side of the road riding the storm out due to fallen trees in front of and behind us across the road. The storm was several counties across and damaged a huge swath of land. Thankfully no injuries in our truck. The roof was crushed down about 4", I think the sunroof actually spread the load out to the pillars and reduced the amount of intrusion. Roof, hood, windshield were trashed, various damage to doors and other panels. Sadly, although the truck was 9 years old it looked like new up till then and mechanically was perfect. Waited two days to try to get windshield replaced before driving home towing camper 200 miles with windshield as you see it (minus the tree). Ever try to drive a kaleidoscope? Insurance company tried for six weeks to get a replacement roof - none were available nationwide. VP at insurance company said that due to age of truck and widespread storm damage inventory was depleted and they didn't know when or if Ford would dust off old tools to make some more. Could have settled for a junkyard cut-off, but body shop recommended against it. Insurance made an offer to take it off our hands that I couldn't refuse. Yes, I could have bought it back and got it fixed but on the other hand, I could buy a new truck. That wasn't a hard choice. Held off on ordering 'till this spring since we didn't have any other trips planned last fall. It hurt to see the truck hauled away. Order placed on a 2020 on June 15.
Sunrise heading from Maine back to Virginia a couple weeks ago (the one hour break that I got from driving the 1,500 mile round trip). Been going there every summer for the past 18 years, this was unfortunately the last time since the house is now sold.
About the only thing good about having to be at work at the Crack of dawn, during the summer I get to see this.
While not out my Truck window, still out my window of my car
