Truck locks up at 45-50 mph

Hello I am new to this site but I have had this issue for allitle while now and can't seem to pin point the problem. I have a 2003 6.0l f250 disel and when I am driving and get up to around 45 mph it will shift and start to shake the whole truck and even if you mash the throttle RPMs won't move and will not gain speed until you let off the throttle and then re engage but it will continue to do this and I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a tool to get live data... Elm327 device and a smartphone or tablet or laptop...

Shouldn't cost more than $40.

First thing is to scan for codes.

Then look at ICP pressure, ICP volts, and IPR %duty cycle before AND when it is happening.

If it is an injector, they are a little harder to "pinpoint" without being able to do contribution tests.

Welcome to FTE,

Just an fyi - you can have codes without having a check engine light.

The reason for asking for information is that these engines are complicated and it is expensive to guess.

It is certainly good to know what work has recently been done.

What HPOP was put on (Ford or aftermarket)?
What injectors were installed (Ford or aftermarket)?
How recent was the work at the shop?

I know but every time I check their is no codes which doesn't make sense check engin light has never came on. But the parts were ford parts but this was going on even befor all that work has been done and even before ford touched it a year ago so I'm not sure what it is.

So Ford worked on it, charged you money, and didn't fix it and another shop worked on it, charged you money, and didn't fix it?

Regarding codes, some code readers are not very good at pulling codes. Not sure if the Dashboss does well at it or not.

We had bad injectors both times and this last time was a no start because of the hpop. I figured the issue was due to the injectors or maby because the leak in the hpop system but it still is doing it. And I have tried both scanners one is dashboss and one is a superchips flashpaq. I will rescan tonight to see if I get something but.

I have DashBoss love it, but not really any good for pulling DTC's. I use ForScan for that.

If you have it chipped or tuned, the first priority is return it to stock for further diagnostics.

That is the best advice so far.

I have been having issues and random codes popping up with a custom tune in the truck. Flashed back to stock drove it for a week. Issues gone.

Used an SCT canned tune for a week and no issues.

So my custo tune may have gotten scrambled some how.

I realize what the poster says in the very first post but first thought that came to mind was "death wobble". I know this does not account for the acceleration symptom but thought i 'd throw it out there.

If they did all that work and still didn't fix it, I wouldn't be to happy. Have you done all the up grades? It mitt be time to look into every thing. What your fuel pressure under load and idle? Can you read HPO? What about TPS?
