2010 Expedition Limited, 158,000 miles. My wife pulled in the driveway yesterday and heard a loud pop. She looked up and saw that the sunroof glass had shattered. It is not likely that anything fell on it - we don't have any trees around, and I looked on the roof for some projectile and found nothing.
Anyway I have looked all over the ulranet for DIY info on removing just the glass from the truck and found nothing. A lot of track repair posts and a video or two, but nothing showing the glass removal part. Being it is Memorial Day weekend, the local dealer parts department was closed so I couldn't call and talk to them. I have found some replacement glass and seals on eBay and the pictures seem to indicate that 4 torx screws hold the glass in place.
Can anyone confirm?
Looks like these (4) screws hold the glass/frame in place.

That is correct, remove those 4 torx screws and the whole frames lifts up. FYI, after the new glass is in, those same 4 screws are used to adjust the glass to make it level with the roof. After that adjustment is done pick 2 of the screws in opposite corners and loosen then tighten them one at a time. This will relieve any twisting strain on the glass that might have occurred during the adjusting process.
Thanks Alloro. I'm also seeing the seal as a part of the sunroof assembly. Is that something that is destroyed in replacing the glass or should it be reusable?
The glass seal and frame are an assembly, just go to any junkyard and pick one out. Take out the 4 torx screws, swap the frames and reinstall the 4 torx screws, and adjust. Trying to buy just the glass is going to create a lot of extra work with no real cost savings.
Quick follow up on the sunroof:
Picked up a used glass from a local yard for $80, including the seal. Like Alloro said, seal comes with the glass. Removing the four torx screws is all that is needed to remove/replace the glass. A little bit of adjusting from the inside and you are back in bidness.
