Got trans in and most the stuff swapped over have hand full of things left to swap and I can take it for a drive once I know everything functions I’m gonna pull seats. Swap the carpet and pedal box and hopefully be good to go.
Well got it it pretty much finished up drives great definitely gonna be interesting to get use to for sure. Hopefully I’ll get the wires run for trans temp guage tomorrow.
Okay got some driving time in today seems decent minus the fact that it likes to lockup a little early which is probably due to the 35s and 3:73 gears my od switch works but light doesn’t work. I already ordered a new one though but guess some new tuning will be in short order. Probably get a hydra if I can sell my ts.
Well here’s a question everything seems good for most part minus the fact that it seems like the tc is locking up early than needed or something. For example when ur driving on a side road say 35 mph range and take slight incline it seems to down shift or the tc is unlocking and then when ur almost topping Hill it locks back way to soon and has to shift back. I checked all taillights and third light all seems good double checked all connections I’m kinda thinking maybe a selonoid pack issue or something I’m gonna run ae on it tomorrow and see if any codes are present hopefully it something simple. But it may be as simple as my tire size throwing it off any advice welcome
How did you route your hoses from the trans cooler? When i did my 6.0 swap i wanted ti run 1/2 to the rad, out of the rad and reduce right near the ends of the metal lines. I couldnt get my fittings out of the rad and ended up leaving in the 5/16 fittings (yes i know its a flow reduction location now)
MERCON V was changed to be compatible with transmissions that originally used MERCON. That includes the E4OD and 4R100. MERCON LV is NOT compatible with those transmissions.
Dexron is Mercon now, and the Valvoline pdf said that is what to use for fords under 2005. If I remember I think it says dexron on the dip stick too. On the dexron /mercon bottle from napa, it just can be used to replace type F fluid.

DEXRON is what GM calls their ATF. You won't find that on a Ford dipstick!
If the Valvoline pdf really says that, they are generalizing and are mostly wrong. Some pre-2005 Fords used MERCON, some used MERCON V, some used MERCON SP, and some used MERCON CVT. Those specs are very, very different and no one fluid is going to match all of them.
In 2006 Ford discontinued MERCON and changed MERCON V to be backwards compatible with the transmissions that used MERCON.
And as for DEXRON/MERCON replacing Type F, no, that isn't going to work. Expect a slippery, short life to a trans that needs Type F and gets DEXRON/MERCON instead.
OKAY guys I noticed this morning backing out of driveway that I had to give what seemed like excessive amount of throttle to back up in reverse and truck was still doing the what seemed like tc locking and unlocking on slight hill so I charged my laptop. To run ae no codes I then remembered that I had previously installed led reverse lights I swapped them out. Also decided to bypass external screw on filter. The filter is supposed to have bypass in it but must not work because I drove truck up same incline several times that it was dropping out of what felt like tc unlocking. Truck did much better but still seems like excessive throttle is needed in reverse. Any advice is welcome read couple forums on internet where similar symptoms where from filter falling off.
Probably going to pull pan later this afternoon to verify everything is tight and snug from valve body being removed and filter is still in place but I’m really thinking it’s low line pressure could the selonoid pack cause this??
Moved truck in a level spot to check fluid level truck is fairly warm noticed it’s almost to top off the flastic part of end of stick so I’m thinking i might of overfilled a little gonna let it cool off a hour or two and check again if level is same I’m gonna drain a bit out. I’ll post pic of fluid level when I check it again .
