It is a unique little setup Ford has created. I saw it for the first time while installing airbags and still wonder what the value is in being so fancy. Regardless, I'm sure it works well (assuming it doesn't break like yours) and there's a reason for the design.
As cheap as this sounds I would tell the dealer to replace it under warranty. 3 years bumper to bumper warranty is there for a reason. It's so I don't have to spend 35 bucks on a battery clamp and then do the work changing it over.

i have seen that clamp.
all i need is the clamping “L” bracket wedge bolt thing.
I don’t know if it is available separately. I really don’t want the service department to replace the whole terminal. I will see what parts says tomorrow. I may just bite the bullet and pay $15 for the $1 part
went by the dealer. not only is the bolt not available, neither is the terminal for a SD.
They would have to replace the whole cable. I don’t have time for service to do that, nor do I want them removing that whole cable (it is not just a simple one).
I opted to buy a negative terminal that has that clamp bolt. I will just rob the bolt.
Unfortunately the dealer did not have it in stock. won’t be able to get it until friday.
