Battery warranty question, will they cover it?

Some of you have educated me as to why my battery terminals are corroding. Within two weeks of thoroughly cleaning them, both pos and neg are covered lightly to moderately in white ash. It appears the problem is due to the battery leaking, however, a specific cell test reveals no problem. I purchased the battery from walmart, everlast with a 3 yr free replacement and 9 yr prorate warranty. I am tired of fighting w/ this battery and the occassional "won't start" b/c the terminals are corroded and was going to buy a new one when it occured to me, this might be covered. Not really sure since a test of the battery is fine from a voltage perspective.

The battery is now 3.5 years old, so there is a lot of warranty left (unfort, just out of the 3 yr free period).

What do you think my options are? I have never dealt w/ a warranty on a battery, especially one that is leaking vs. no volts. I suppose i could drain the power and take it back.

any ideas? thx

well the thing is is it seems the walmart batteries do this a lot i installed one in my truck and it did the same thing i installed a ac delco from napa it is sealed and i have never had a problem. i would also skip the autolite batteries from kragen they are made by the same company that makes walmarts and they leak to. or just buy a battery from your ford dealer. at most it will be 64.95

I had the same battery in my Cadillac and it wasn't holding a charge. Returned it to Walmart and got a replacement, no questions asked.

So get your receipt and go back to Walmart to get a new battery.

sure enough, took it back to walmart and no questions asked. i got a new battery on a prorated basis for $24 w/ a new 3 yr free replacement and 9 yr warranty. the gal told me that i could have returned in 6 mos earlier (within the 3 yrs) and got a new one for free. She also said they had some trouble w/ the previous version battery, doing what mine did, but this was is an improved series and the model number is slightly different. only time will tell.
