Alright so problem started with code po0766 for solenoid d performance/stuck off. Wouldt shift to 5th. Doesn't even attempt to shift. Sometimes it will act like its confused shifting from 3rd to 4th. Reverse ours slow to engage but engages strong, with that said its a lottle shaky sometimes after it's warmed up. So i got the mts stage 2 direct clitch solenoid, epc solemoid, and dummy sensor plug. Still no change. Even threw the code again. I used dex/mercon lv fluid, which i was told was a suitable replacement for the apparently nonexistent mercon sp fluid. Not gonna lie didn't replace the valve body gasket bestie i wad told you could pull down the wiring harness plug though found out that's not the case because of the oring. Bad clutch pack or something else going on, thanks.
I think there is a tranny section on the forum that may have some tranny deep divers who might be able to help. the one time I thought I had a tranny problem on a 5r110 , I checked into what I could do myself and the complexity and tool set needed made buy a reman more attractive . but it turned out my 5r110 problem was not a tranny problem and I did not have to cross that bridge.

Has anybody figured the problem out i am having the same problem and cant seem to get anywhere
What that problem ended up being was the direct clutch assembly being toasted. More than likely due to the original bearing, guess you could say defective, in the direct drive drum and center support that cause the direct drum to run slightly askew and cause excessive wear on said frictions. Guessing how some shift out of 3rd gear. The transmission housing flexes and the and can distort the center support new center supports and direct drums come with the updated bearings and supposedly the new center supports are stronger.
That's what my direct drive frictions looked like. As you can see there is no friction material left and it is no longer flat as it should be. The steels were blue and black instead of shinny.
