I don't have my truck yet but I have been reading the manual online and can't find an answer to my question. When starting the truck in cold weather what is the process using the push to start regarding the glow plugs? If you push and let go does it automatically warm the glow plugs and then crank the engine?
Gary
You just hit the button. The truck handles the glow plug delay. When the truck is warm, it'll crank immediately. If it's cold, there'll be a couple second delay
Delay to start between warm and cold days is very limited. Yes, you push the button or remote start and the system does the rest. It's actually almost imperceptible between -5 to -25 C outside temp on a cold soak over night. Remember this is not your older glow plugs, these get instantly hot, and it cranks over and starts and very fast in comparison to my 2005 6.0 diesel. Remember also, your not cranking a high pressure oil pump to fire HEUI injectors. Instead, high pressure fuel pump, and injectors fire instantly.
Thanks very much for the replies. I wonder how I was missing that information in the manual. Glad to hear that it handles the glow plugs so seamlessly.

When you're entrenched in product on a daily basis you forget some people haven't yet been exposed to the technology you've had in the trucks for 5 years. Push to start is nice. I wish they used the same for the key, and I don't know why they don't. Ford keys don't need held to start, they'll just crank until they fire (or 10 seconds goes by). The diesel should run it's start sequence, but as of right now if you put the key in, it'll start cranking without warming up the glow plugs first.
