Transfer case conversion

Can anyone tell me what all is needed to swap a NP-205 transfer case into a 1987 F-150 that currently has the NP-435 trans and a BW-1356 transfer case? Does the NP-205 and NP-435 get married or do they stay divorced? Do any mounts or driveshaft lengths, etc. change?
Thanks to anyone that has experience with this.

It should be a DIRECT bolt on deal since ford used the same 6 bolt pattern from the 70s thru the 90s.

Driveshafts I can not help you on.

What is the problem with the 1356 that you want to change it, they are pretty stout

NP-205s were made in both divorce- and direct-mount.

If you have a divorce-mount NP-205 then you need to get a 2WD transmission and the transfer case will still need to be divorce-mounted.

If you have a direct-mount NP-205 then it should bolt directly to the rear of your current 4WD transmission.
