what type of truck are you referring to and what is in there now ? is it a divorced trany case or is it married to the transmission ? all info helps !!
Its a '70 with a 4 speed. I assumed all the '67 to '72 4x4's were the same. Didn't know they came with different types of transfer cases. I don't really know what it is. Just been looking about buying the truck and have read that they don't have a low range.
F100 had a mated transfer case, F250 had a divorced so that bit of info is needed.
Either way, I believe you will need a different transmission though. The F100 used (memory is a little foggy here- ) a 16 spline output, and it was an odd length. The D21 transfer case can only be directly swapped with a D20 from an early Bronco, but that still changes your driveshaft lengths. You could probably bolt a later NP435 to your FE bellhousing to use a newer transfer case. From 77 on, Ford used a 31 spline input on the transfer cases.
DETAILED INFO IS VERY IMPORTANT !! now what truck did the T-18 come out of , and what is the transfer case make and model ? there should be a tag on it ! and are they bolted together as in came from the same truck ? or are they 2 separate pieces ?
I know 100% that the trannny is a T18, and I'm 99% sure that the t-case is a BW1356. They are out of a late 80's F150. They are still bolted together just as they came out of the truck.
then in that case they should work . but you will need the address the crossmember for the trany case and the linkage and the drive shafts . and dont forget that those BW 1356
CASES TAKE ATF FLUID and not 90w gear oil
