Winter is still holding strong in Wisconsin, and I am getting cabin fever. I have been reading all over the web about what kinds of headers to put on my 360 that I am going to swap into the ranger as soon as my wrenches thaw. I was wondering if anybody has any advice on what kind of headers to put on my 66 (with a 240) to 360 swap.. I have heard problems about frying the starter as well as hitting the firewall and even the block..

Hello. I have a 66 f100 352 and 3 on the tree. I went with Flow Tech long tube headers and had no issues with fitment. I believe I paid around $150 from Summit. I did wrap the starter just in case.
I used Hedman Elite Series #89810, little pricey. As 352, 360, and later 390 FE's are the same block, just different bore and stroke, it will fit with no problem. I have a 390 from a 74 F100 in my 66 and went in with no issues. Look on ebay if in no hurry. Got mine after awhile, new in box for $200.
It seems as though everyone has a different opinion. Nice to have options. I went with the Sanderson. Am pleased with the fit, starter clearance and appearance. I installed a compact starter and it doesn't require header removal to install or replace.
I sure am glad you posted your engine picks Eric. Sure is a beautiful job. I was going to mention your work but figured you'd do it when you decided.
With that said, the Sandersons that Eric installed are the only ones I would consider using on a 65-66 F-100. They are perfect for that application and everything clears perfect. They are NOT cheap, but you pay for what you get. Cut corners elsewhere.

What brand starter is that? Do you like it? My Napa starter is starter to sound bad and it would be nice to not have to take the header off.
It's a Powermaster. Can't remember the model, but I can look it up if you need it. I did a search for the model with the best feedback. Can't say how it operates, as the truck's not running yet, but it seems to be well-engineered.
Those are the FF427, ceramic coated. That's the only one Sanderson sells for our trucks. (in either plain steel or ceramic). Their list is $575.00, but I was able to get a deal at an NSRA National meet. They had them at $100.00 off plus free shipping....couldn't pass it up.
