The only thing I miss about my 06 long bed is the tank. This short bed tank sucks!

My current truck is the first long bed I've had and I will never go back to sb. Now, I work out of my truck and I travel in it all over the Midwest and southeast. It's a long haul tow vehicle so duh, it works out.

Drives better
Hauls more stuff
5th wheel towing is great

If it was my in town urban daily driver? Yeah, for $80large I'd be in a bmw M5.

Always had LBs

'96 single cab LB, 06 350CCLB, 17 350CVLB.
I work out of mine and have a wide toolbox which takes up ~30" of bed. I considered a SB this time but once I looked at how much bed I'd lose-NWIH could I do that... I'll keep backing into parking spots...

Mine is mostly a recreational tower. I do DD it on occasion though. I've DD plenty of CCLB as well as CCSB trucks though. If it's my money I'll be in a CCLB everytime.

Had a SCLB on my last truck and it was just what I need. It had an auxiliary 50 gallon fuel tank in the bed. My current is a CCLB and it will also have a 50 gal fuel tank, w/utility box on top, in the bed. Just what I need for my 5th wheel towing needs on long trips.

There is more selection in SB trucks where I live so when I am in the market for a truck, it takes a bit of digging for me to find a LB. I get tempted to buy a SB and just be done with it, and we have owned a few over the years, but my personal truck has always been an extended cab long box. My new truck is CCLB and it is a little longer than my old truck but I don't notice a huge difference I am used to backing into spots and the adaptive steering helps in this regard as well. I still end up making a few 3 point turns but I'm used to it. Almost every day I am thankful to have the extra space available in the long box, a short box would provide far less utility in my line of work. The CC is such an improvement for me, my guys appreciate not have there knees up around their ears on the way to a job site and the extra space for loading is fantastic.

Thats my plan as well. no fun jockeying a long rig like that for fuel stops. And sometimes the "fuel this exit" sign has you driving ten miles to some little town, when the next exit has it right there.... Sorry for the off topic rant....On your last aux. tank setup did you have the gravity feed into the filler neck? If so, how did it work?

When I tow it's a 31' 5er. I really like the extra room in front of the hitch for fire wood, fishing and camping gear etc. It's not hard to get used to the long box. After awhile it's second nature.

After I started this thread in February I purchased a CCLB in April.
I am very happy with this decision.
I do need to park a few spaces farther at the grocery store, not really an issue. Maneuverability with the camper doesn't seem to suffer. The 8ft bed has come in very handy on a number of occasions, and I love the 48 gallon fuel tank.
This truck is the most stable towing platform I have ever driven. I am not sure exactly how much the long wheelbase contributes to that but I know it plays a part.
Now that I have the CCLB I would not go back.
No Regrets.

It also fits in my garage with 8 inches to spare !
