Change Oil Light

Did a search and couldn't find anything on oil changes period and I have seen them in the past. So would say this search engine is pretty lame.

Anyway, so at 4900 miles my change oil light came on, so first oil change on a new engine I just took it in. Now at 10,200 change oil light came on.

Anyone else getting this frequency for changing oil?

Taken from the owners manual. Depending on your trucks usage it's completely normal.

My first one was just over 5 k and did the second at 10 k, waited for the IOLM on the third and just did it at 17560. Wondering when #4 will hit

I just do mine every 5,000 and don't have to guess or get caught in the middle of BFE when it comes on.

Thanks for the replies. Being I just do normal driving, (7500-10000) it seems to be a bit excessive.
So I gues I will just change it every 5k

Same here. Change it at 5k intervals and on my terms (schedule, location, etc.). I dont even think about the IOLM.

First light came on at 9500, I am at 15000 and no light yet. I wait for the light. Here is my reasoning.
My fleet trucks get changed by miles (6000) and hours on the auxiliary engine's. All get Annalised so I know I am in a good zone. These are construction trucks and sweepers in a harsh environment and non synthetic. And my fleet Management system gives us the reminder when due.
in my opinion 5000 mile regular change is to soon. That would add a lot of expenses with no return. However 5k is an easy number for knowing when if you're doing it by miles. Before I did oil samples and had a system to remind me, I used 5k too so I don't knock those who do.
