January thaw is almost here, up to 10 days above 0 when it gets here. Its usually followed by 3 bouts of snow, by the end of February its pretty much all over for us, just some march snow which lasts for a week and then its done

Good afternoon folks.
A nasty storm last night and day two with no school buses running.

Still another day or two before the big thaw but it gives me time to get a few jobs on hold done. The abs that I'm using as a conduit is painted white now, more of a pita than a hard job. Got a set of retainer clips for the transmission yesterday and that's the next thing to do. Hope you get a weather break next week.

Today is being one of those days when things go right and my must do's are done, coffee time. May as well put the shovel to work and make sure the snow is out of the work area around the house so that i'm not dealing with that when I'm trying to break my neck on the ladder. May as well turn the snow into a landing zone so that I comply with the safety standards around this place. Ha Ha

Another super cold night and day then the big thaw is supposed to be here starting Sat. Till then I`m spending most of my time inside.
You are painting the abs to hide it?
It`s good that those transmission retainer clips arrived in time for the nice weather arriving.

Went to Gregg Distributors for the clips, downloaded their catalog the other day, that was a pita plus the thing is 400+ pages long.
The abs was going to look like crap and having a black abs conduit running up the wall on the outside of the house is looking for trouble, so yeah, I'm hoping this hides it a bit. Going to need to caulk it in a bit where it comes out of the wall but RONA should have something somewhat cheap that I can use, also have a 3/4" hole that I need to drill into the house by the door so that I can send some sensor wires through there. I can get past wireless systems in about 2 seconds so everything I'm doing is hard wired.

Some parts sites are the pits to search through, some are easy.
What size of conduit are you running?

This is 1.5" id abs, 2" outside, its a 1/4" smaller od than the power line in. Just big enough inside to run cables and the redundancy wire for the cameras and router antena, going to hook up the redundancy wire to the satellite mounting base as theres no dish on it, dish receives signals but the mount serves as a pole and will transmit a signal. Went small on the conduit so that there isn't a big air pocket to suck out heat or draw in cold air and I don't have a 2.75" hole saw, the 2.5" hole saw would have been to tight a hole to caulk on 2" abs. Have metal tubing for the small hole by the door and I can flare that on the outside and use a rubber grommet to seal off air flow into the house, sounds more complicated than it really is. Maybe once its in I'll use it as a model and put some more systems into this neighborhood, would come in handy having my cash flow staying with in 6 blocks of the house and will add to the list of can do's on my skill sheet.
