The stock WP heater connection is straight, but an angle might be better for hose routing. I'd wait to finalize the valve orientation until you can see what works best with your heater and its nozzle location. I've seen them pointing several different ways.
Certainly a pretty FH! Nice work, before you know it you'll be building them for your friends!! I like your wooden dolly setup. I might steal the idea because I play with regular flatheads and now I have a lincoln 337 flathead. Looks like a fairly flexible setup. To get a commercial engine stand to fit the big and small FH's is almost impossible. Keep up the nice work and post videos of it running!!!🤘🏻
Thanks guys, it has been a lot of fun to build, expensive, but fun. I learned a lot on this build and have more correct tools. I think on the next build I will invest in the exhaust side plate for my stand so that I can complete more of the build up high.
One last detail was changing out the water elbows. The original ones were pitted badly which made me wonder if I would get a good hose seal, I've had trouble with that before. So I picked up a NOS with script set and swapped them out. One had a casting flaw on the sealing surface so I soldered it and machined it smooth. Used a good coat of permatex and while at it put the wire clamp in the correct place.
My F5 extra cooling radiator is somewhere between Atlanta and Des Moines, can't wait for it to get here and get it checked out at the shop.
