American Eagle makes a Alcoa style wheel that fits my truck. I would probably lean towards those. They're Cast Aluminum though. Max weight rating of 2600#. I really don't want to put steel wheels on it. Does anyone make a forged aluminum wheel for my application? If so I can't find it.

I agree y2k this seems like a good reason to replace them all and there is certainly nothing stopping one of his others or even a new one from doing the same thing it's obviously a wide spread problem if the op follows your advice he will be in good shape but the wallet may be lighter than he wanted unless he goes to the steel wheels but you get what you pay for.

SnowPlowDriver,

I looked at the add. If I was closer to St. Louis I would be on that deal. St. Louis is about a 7 hours drive from here.

Could be from over torquing the lug nuts, shops do this ALL THE TIME

Good and valid point. Shops also UNDER torque them, and owners often forget to RE torque them after 500 miles, as Ford recommends with dually rims, due in part to the nature of the two piece swiveling lug nuts used with duallies that are not used with SRWs.

My point is, I don't want something that delicate. I want as much tolerance and forgiveness for technician and operator error as possible. I can't help but notice that the hand holes in Ford's newer design aluminum dually rims are no longer those big triangles with sharp corner transitions that dip all the way into the hub plate of the wheel... but instead are smooth radius ovals, distanced a little more away from the hub plate, like the Alcoa Hot Shot design.

Too bad the new F350 wheels won't fit on the old hubs. Here is a 2012 set, with tires and inner steels, for $1,100 on Craigs...

I have the same issue...Replaced one of my rims about 2 years ago and at that time I was able to find a New Alcoa rim to replace the cracked rim I had.
Now 2 year later a have a second rim that is cracked and can't find the original style rim to replace it with.
I called Alcoa and they told me they don't make the rims for our trucks. I was also told by Alcoa not to buy the original rims new or used that have the Ford logo stamped on them as they will crack, Alcoa recalled all the rim they made because of issues but Ford will not recall any of the rims made by Alcoa during the same recall...

What I have found out...
Eagle rims are cast.
ION rims are forged. I'm looking at the 167 ION rims.
If any updates , please post up

Thanks you adpeebs. The Alcoa recall you report helps explain the missing part numbers for 99-04 that are in my 2001 Alcoa catalog, but that are no longer in the current Arconic catalog.
