50th gift
A 1986 F250 4x4 460/c6 XLT
from california(dryland) direct to my frontdoor in germany(wetland).
she is from a lean sale for only 2200$, without any papers, only from the goverment that's says, that's a lean sale car without any papers? OK, that will be a funny thing, try to regist her here in germany.
the car has some missing moldings and all rubberparts are rock hard but almost in a good useable condition.
to get it running I spent her a new carb and throw out the california anti smoke/drive/start/whatever makaroni tube hose vac vent nightmare.
I will give her a new original paintdress, adding only the brown tutone option between moldings.
happy, hardy
I got 2 midlifecrisis projects: 1 I started before I hit 50 as I wanted to drive it on my birthday.........did not happen and 6 years later still have not driven it.
The other I bought last year, frame off rebuild and hope in a years time to be driving it.
Good luck with the truck & welcome to the forum.

ps: I see a lot of American iron on that truck!

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Mechanics lien sale: Vehicle worked on by a body shop and/or garage. Then when the owner cannot pay the repair bill, it's sold via a lien sale.
The seller should have given you the lien sale paperwork. Without paperwork, there's no way to know...for sure, that it was a lien sale and not stolen.
DSO 71 on Certification Label: Truck was originally ordered from the Los Angeles (SoCal) Ford District Sales Office, sold by a Ford dealer here in sunny SoCal
AXLE C9: Dana 61-1 Rear Axle / 3.55-1 / Limited Slip / 6,250 lbs. Axle Capacity.
Ford: E6TA-JB ~ Dana: 610264-2 = Dana 44 Front Driving Axle / 3.54-1 / Manual hubs / 3,850 lbs. Axle Capacity.
1) Support the tailgate partially open and release the clip at the top of each support cable, where they attach to the bed. I use a small screwdriver to undo the clips.
2) Hold the tailgate at approximately a 45 degree angle. Look at the right hinge and adjust the angle until you see the slot line up for removal. Its hard to describe but easy to understand when looking at the hinge. Pull the right side of the tailgate up at an angle to separate the hinge.
3) With the right side free, slide the tailgate slightly to the right to separate the left hinge.
Only the right side hinge has the slot that needs to be aligned. The left hinge is a different and you just slide the tailgate to the side for removal.
Edit - A video that shows how:
Although Bill's already done much of it, to do your own decoding of the labels on your truck use my web site, and the best place to start is here: Certification Label - ???Gary's Garagemahal. And, you might poke around it as there are other pages that have info on these trucks.
When we left the hotel in the morning, the water was sloshing around the tires of our rental Mercedes.
We spent 3 weeks touring the 3 Deutsches Wienstrasse (German wine roads), brought home a few bottles, haven't opened them yet.
but, back to the truck: surprise, surprise, got the german title without many hassle. the guy at the desk knows that there was something around like a lien sale. he has to ask his boss in an other department and that guy pushed the green button and voila
fresh papers for an old truck
after the overhaul will be there a smaller plate...promise.
I forget...thanks for the video, thats easy. I dont has seen the gap before I watch the vid.
have all tailgates the F-O-R-D letters pressed in the sheet?
I wonder as I removed the brushed XLT panel, is there a standart gate under it. only with 8 holes for the trim panel.
The gate is not original, 'cos it's flat black primered under the panel, maybe an aftermaket part.
I will made a pic. of it.
stay tuned, hardy
