Surging when doing silent down hill
My 2001 F250 with 5.4 gasser surges when it rolls downhill when using the cruise control. It does not do that when it is going up hill or on flat level highway. Any idea why it does that? This is only when I use cruise control.

"Surges" as in accelerating and picking up speed? If not, maybe it's downshifting (hence the high revs) to slow your speed down to the desired level. I don't think I've ever had cruise control on going downhill, so I can't tell you if mine does that. Just guessing.....

Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for an hour then reconnect it and see how it acts. The cruise on my V10 truck was acting weird and this "fixed" it.
I had a 4.6 truck that would surge and run bad, that one had a broken TPS. It was physically broken, the lower range contacts had become so worn they fell off.

I will try disconnect the battery to reset the computer. The hill was very small. It was not the big one where the speeds will pick up from gravity. Truck was not shifting at all when surging was happening.
