cruise control kills engine?

cruise control kills engine?
I set my cruise control at 35mph and after a few seconds the engine dies. If I dec at this low speed the engine dies. The cruise control does engage at this low speed, and I know the cruise should disengage when at to low of speed. The cruise control work other than that. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
