hes a pretty stubborn guy... course thats a family trait on both sides of the family.. and being a navy guy i guess you gotta be tough too...

went to visit dad today while mom stayed at the hotel since shes worried herself to being sick.. dr's said he is improving just not as fast as they would have liked but kind of to be expected with what he went through.. they decided not to take the respirator out today.. he was awake more when i got there.. the dr's are concerned with his BP being high but we both attribute that to him being frustrated with the tube.. nurses said when i got there he was trying to pull it out this morning so they had to put his hands in them mittens like they do infants to keep them from scratching themselves... while i was there his BP ended up being 224/82.. when i left they got him down to 171/74.. but theyre still concerned with his blood o2 levels.. which is why they kept him on the ventilator... they bumped up the pressure a bit for tonight.. theyll test him again tomorrow to see if he can come off yet...

Thanks for the update Shawn , were still praying for your Dad, breathing treatments are crucial and must be watched very closely what we don't want is liquids aspirating into the lungs is your Dad able to be propped up , hopefully not laying flat ,if so need to get him elevated at least 30 deg , wishing the best for you and the Family aswell bud , take care of your self and Mom

they have him almost sitting up fully about how he normally does the multifold bed at home... i told them today they had the bed just how he does at home.. sitting up with a slight lean back with feet raised so that his butts in a valley... which was good for a couple reasons.. 1 he finds it normally most comfortable at home... the other reason with his shoulder and rib issues its now taking the pressures off them too vs being laid down like and his weight on both they did before..

Is he feeding Via tube or on his own ? , They had me on Morhine self administer when I busted up 4 ribs , my lungs were squished and my o2s were very low , after about four days the lungs started to expand with the breathing treatments ,you can tell him not to complain about the Hospital food or they will boot his *** out like they did me ,lol , it really wasn't that bad , just needed salt pepper and a bottle of Chula hot sauce .

hes being fed via a feeding tube.. still on the vent tube... they need to get his 02 stats up before that can come out... hes not really had their food other than whats gone in via IV and the feeding tube... his complaint atm (if he could) is when the nurses come in and move him... because they keep pulling/pushing on him with the broken clavicle and broken ribs...

I feel his pain man, so they must have the blood clot leg apparatus on both legs , I hated that thing it felt like shock waves , that makes it hard to sleep . Well keep his Spirits up and were still praying over on this end

yeah they have something surrounding his legs but i dont think its shocking him... its using some kind of air pump... they have him on some pretty good pain meds that seem to be helping even hide the constant pain in his back... but it doesnt help when someone pushed on you busted ribs lol

No it's not a shock treatment , but it sure feels like it , it's more of keeping the legs from clotting up , and having a clot work it's way to the heart, it's also on a two min timer , just when you think you'll catch some sleep the dam thing would go off . After 5 days of that , I started to get up and walk , I told the hospital dr take it off I'm walking now .
