The picture is for a 302W not an FE. The FE has a bracket, like Ranger mentioned, that mounts on the front of the engine block.
The frame has two sets of holes for mounting the perches. Make sure that your moved the perches to the rear mounting holes.
Swap your engine mounts side for side and see if things don't line up better.

The FE bracket mounts to the front face of the bellhousing, the 300 has a stud that threads into the side of the block (one of the items eliminated in the mid-80s casting update of the 300).
The bracket needs to point to the rear. If the engine bolts up, and the trans mount is where it needs to be, I'm thinking you might have the bracket backwards or in just the wrong spot.

....in reference to the "Windsor" nomenclature:

I6 to V8

I did the same thing with my 65 ( same block ) and I had to move the motor mounts (towers?). That may be your issue. I can't remember if they had to be moved back or forward.

I think it was back. The bolts line right up. Something is telling me they had to be swapped left-right, right-left? Dang, it's been too long but, My buddy had a 65' w/ a 352 and that was how we figured it out.

Left side perch is the long perch. Right side perch is the short perch, since the engine/transmission is offset roughly 2" to the right of the trucks centerline --they aren't positioned down the middle of the truck.

And why is the engine offset?

To prevent brinelling of drivetrain components.

In an early Mustang, for example, the engine/transmission does follow the centerline of the car. The offset is built into the rear end housing --passenger side has the long axle/axle housing tube and the drivers side has the short axle/axle housing tube due to the straddle mount design of the pinion and ring gear arrangement of the Ford 8-inch or 9-inch rear end.

LOTS of good info here, thanks all. My bracket is correct on the bellhousing and is mounted properly.

On the frame side bracket, I only saw one set of mounting holes and don't think I could move that mount and still be able to get the clutch pedal to line up properly.

My truck had the 240 in it and I did not move the perches when I installed the 352. It had good motor mounts on it when I bought it so I just assumed they were correct.

I'll check the perch mounts in the morning to see if they can be or should be moved but I'm thinking that seems like it would be the best fix because the z bar is way off.

So just to confirm; Tall perch should be on the left side (drivers)(I'm pretty sure it is although I haven't confirmed), and there may be a second set of mounting holes for the engine perch mount?

But the drawing is for the Windsor series and not the FE series.

When I swapped from the 302W to my 428CJ I had to move the perches.
I just went and verified that, yes, the perches had to move towards the rear. The bolt holes are right at 2" farther back.

Bingo. That is the problem as you have to slide it back to the next set of holes which is for the FE. There were only two sets of holes available until mid 69 as per UR when another set was added for the 302. And I believe the motor mounts need to be changed also to ones used for an FE.
