Front Engine Mount was Lowered

The front engine brace was cut and lowered by about 1/2 the thickness of the brace bar. The welds are good and arent' showing any problems, but I was wondering why that was done? The previous owner said it was done to allow easier installation and removal of the engine with the tranny, but would like to confirm. One effect this has had is that the clutch bar is now at an angle as sits between frame and motor. I do see the rubber pads need to be replaced in all locations, but other than that, it seems OK.

My truck runs, but I'd like to get it running a bit more reliably and just need to know if there's anything I should be concerned with regarding the motor.

What year we talking about? what engine? seem you should be able to use some spacers to get it right. i would replace the rubber mounts, that will help.... maybe then you wont need any shims.

It's a 63 F100 with a 262 inline six.

I can't seem to find how to add a closing line to my posts...

If the truck is a 63 and has a 262 it was transplanted, possibly using the larger heavier duty F series front mount hence, necessitating the modifications. 262 were optional but rare in 63 F100s'
