Ok i just posted about my front bearing and such and i got the answers i needed. But i just got under the truck and see that the swaybar mount on the passenger front is rotted and the bracket is welded to the front axle tube. How do i go about replacing this mount.I think it can be purchased through ford but will it have to be cut of the axle tube and welded back on.Or is the new mount something different. Not much rust on truck so not sure why it is rotted so bad.
Yes the mount on the passenger side where the swaybar mounts and it is welded to the axle tube,The springs set on top of it.And it is a 1999 f250 superduty.
Not knowing the history of you and your truck I would say the bracket that holds the rubber sway bar bushing was welded to the bracket that is welded to the spring bracket by the previous owner. My bracket was broke when I bought my 99. I was able to tig weld the bushing bracket back together and then bolt it to the bracket. If you can see where they are welded together you should be able to seperate them and redo them the right way. I will try and get a picture of what mine looks like tomorrow and post it up. -Jason
The spring bracket is factory welded on these Dana 50s.Its the one on the right side on the bottom of the axle tube. And the swaybar is bolted to it.I've been looking all night on the internet and can't seem to find out if there is a replacement bracket. And from what i see the spring mount has to be ground off of the axle tube and build one or if there is a replacement.
That is the same as my truck. That bracket stays put. There is another bracket that bolts to that. I believe rock auto has the complete bracket and bushing you need. You have to measure your sway bar and get the mm conversion because the e99 truck had so many different parts during its production.
Also, if that is the bracket that is missing then yes you will have to have one welded on. If I remember that is 1/4 thick strap steel. You can pick that up at home depot. I hope all I have tried to explain didn't confuse you more. Jason
2000 f350 4x4 right front axel housing welded bracket used to support sway bar/steering components as well as u bolts attaching the spring is ROTTING OFF
it is a cup which holds salt and other debris. mine are so bad my u bolts are now loose.
has anyone found a source for a new bracket.....will Dana supply one
best I can find is to replace the complete axel housing $$$$$$$
based off field trips to the proving grounds a cupped bracket should failed FORDS SALT immersion testing OH WELL
Dan i haven't had any luck with finding one.Iv'e been on the net and calling people and no luck.I will not replace the axle housing i know that.Think im going to rebuild the bracket by welding 1/4 inch plate on it and building a box and drill holes for the swaybar bolts.
