So, what's the opinion on engine removal method, out the front or pull the cab? I do have the ability to pull the cab and hang it overhead for the duration of the work, tall shop and a chain hoist there. I also have a forklift. But, looking at the threads for out the front removal it almost seems easier to go that way anyway.
Have an older 12v in an Onan genset that had the famed KDP self destruct happen before it was handed down to me at work. That thing runs like a bucket of bolts but I will say it never gels up, even sitting out in the middle of the field with gale force winds blowing on it.
Stick with a 6.0, you won't regret it properly done.
Lifting the cab is the best if you can.
Of course this was in March, then the kid continued to drive it until it wouldn't start anymore because he couldn't afford the repairs. So, the list may only be partly valid. Will know more when I get e engine out I suppose.
I'm in Portland. The doofus kids were Vancouvers. Sucks because now I'll get a lye fee for transfer because I can't take the truck to DMV unless I can get it rolling in less than 30 days!
Yeah I jump into things with both feet. Unfortunately that combines with ADD and I rarely finish a project. Hopefully this truck will not suffer such a fate.
If anyone was wondering what the 6 speed manual looks like here it is. It's quite large, and has cooling lines going up into the radiator like a an auto would have. With presumed 330 k on it I'm not sure what should be expected from it but we will find out.
