I already replaced the pigtail which came with shrink tubing and crimps. Since I had a crimping tool and the manufacturer wanted me to use crimps, I did not use solder there.I did add dielectric grease before putting on the shrink tubing though.
OK....cool. Now that is done. What did you come up with matching the alternator at the parts store? any luck?
Wasn't able to get the the AP store today. I will try tomorrow. Why have I stopped getting email notifications? I have not changed any settings.
email notifications do not matter at this point given your trucks problems...Focus ! Are You able to log in on a laptop or desktop? Obviously you are able to on your phone.

This happens sometimes; IB (owner of this place as well as ~100 other such forums) sends a LOT of e-mail, and some e-mail providers, some ISPs, throttle them. They will most likely show up at some point, though.

Millennium speak is a compliment. My generation speaks the best . I replaced the alternator and lubed the plugs and got everything attached. (I had to change the pulleys because the alternator I had was pieced together. The alternator I got had a serpentine belt pulley, but it was a easy change out.) Is there anything else I need to do before putting the battery cable back on and checking for heat?
The alternator I got is a 75 amp. There was an 80 for $40 more and it would not arrive for two days, but the only thing electric in this truck is the rear window and a cb. The radio does not even work and there are currently no speakers in the doors or anywhere else in the truck (though I may try and fix the radio and speakers in the future).
Oh, and I forgot to pick up some fusible link wire. Can I still try it without it?
I just didn't want to go search through 9 pages to figure out which fusible link(s) you're talking about, I forget this kind of stuff overnight (or sooner). I remember you have the alternator with the fire plug that was melting wires and which didn't seem to be putting out the correct voltage, you replaced the fire plug pigtail as well as the alternator but I don't remember anything about any fusible links, is one or more of them blown? Did it/they burn up? In any event, best course of action is to ensure everything is in the condition needed to operate as designed.
Post 56 last pic. It is the orange fusible link on the black wire. They did not burn and it does not pull apart. It looks exactly like in the pic. If I plug up everything and the link is bad will it hurt anything?
If I remember correctly you said to check for continuity I need to put the test points on the wire on the solenoid and the other on the alternator body and then switch them correct?
