Wouldn't I want to put on the new set as close to where these are as possible with #1 @ TDC?

You can set it for what you want, if you want it TDC you can put it there. Retarding the cam timing will increase high RPM horsepower, and advancing the cam timing will increase low-end torque and best economy. Here is a copy of one of Cloyes instruction sheet that will explain it better then I could word it.
no, it's an n aftermarket sleeve you put it on to take care of that groove worn in the crank by the timing cover seal. I don't know how to post a link or I would. I basically gives you a brand new surface for the timing cover seal to seal real ggod. Sorry got off topic of your timing gears. Just thought I would mention it when I saw that groove cut in your crank.

Gotcha. I'll check it out. I didn't have a leak there but I would rather be safe.
