Timing marks not lined up?

So I got this 302 roller motor to put in my 1978 f150. I am replacing some parts oil pump timing chain etc.
This is what the timing marks look like. Should I put the new set on like that or do what I think is right and align the marks?

Also since I’m running a mechanical fuel pump was gonna used older style timing cover but the dowels are in a different location. Can I just remove the dowels and not use them?

Last question the eccentric for the fuel pump. The the double roller chain set up just has a hole for the dowel. Can the tab on the back of the eccentric just go in that hole?

Yikes. I don't know how many degrees a tooth is, but I do know that when you want to advance or retard your cam/valve timing, most people in the know use an adjustable cam gear with slotted or alternate holes or whatever.
Did you get to hear this engine run before it was pulled?
Where/who did you get it from? Do you have any history on it?

That'll definitely run better if you line the timing marks up.

Line up the timing marks. Eccentric tab in dowel hole. Front cover best bet would be to drill old cover to match dowel size. If you run without the dowel it will eventually leak, The mechanical pump working up and down will make front cover leak.

The shop manual says that the marks should be aligned.

Did the engine's own cover not have a provision for a mechanical fuel pump?

Yes, the tab on the eccentric would go into the hole on the cam gear.

If you prefer not to have oil leaks, you should clean all mating surfaces without gouging the metal and change the crank seal.

If you will be reusing the oil slinger be sure it doesn't hit the chain.
