The 351w in my 97 f350 is burning a ton of oil and is just getting plain worn out, I just got another 351w from a 96 f150. Will I be able to use the engine wiring harness from the 96 even though it was a mass air flow obd 2 truck and mine is an obd 1 speed density truck. It all looks identical, even the connector to the Pcm the only things it looks like I would need to change is the throttle body and egr system. Or would I be better of swapping the 97 wiring harness onto the 96 motor? I realize that was a long and complicated post, any input helps, thanks in advance

That will be the best way as speed density harness will be different than the MAF one.
Might have to swap the sensors alog with the harness to be sure. Others may know more about that
Do not swap anything wiring related from the F150, keep everything from your 1997 F350. Strip the EGR from your 1997 then put it on the 1996 donor engine.
Sonce your computer has no capability of receiving the info from the mis-fire sensor on the 1996 F150 engine you can leave it in place and disconnected. There are no other differences to deal with.
Whatever you do, do not use any wiring on the engine from that 1996 F150.
