I took a 96 351w and put it in a 95, I am wondering if the 96 351w had a crank position sensor but the 95 doesn't have the wiring for it .
will it still run without it ? or might that be the reason it wants to stall when come to a stop ?
The #1 rule of engine swaps is don't use any wiring that comes with the donor motor. You pretty much have to use the '95 engine harness here, if the donor was from an HD truck you may get away with it but if it was from a 1/2 ton it's a complete no go because '96 was the first year for OBD2 and there were a lot of changes.
And with the '95 harness on the motor extra sensors like the crank position thingy don't matter because they weren't used with the OBD1 system. You would need to change the EGR components though as the OBD2 specific DPFE system isn't compatable with your OBD1 truck.
Agreed, just checking things off the short list. There's no reason for engine stall that I haven't looked at
and the crank sensor and next ecm were the only things left to consider . After that I'm thinking target practice lol
I did just keep the wiring on the 95 f150, but also did a complete egr delete . To see what that entailed there is a YouTube video for complete egr delete on 94 bronco.
