OBS engine swap
Hello, I have a totaled 96 f150 4x4 and a 95 f150 . I need to take the engine out of the 96 and put it in the 95. I know I need to change the mass air flow sensor and egr valve from one to the other. what I need to know, do I have to swap the computer as well or can I plug and play ? both have 5.8L engines 96 roller cam , 95 hydraulic. Thanks in advance.

Easiest way would be to take the motor out of the 96. Swap the motor wiring harness from the 95 to the 96 motor and install motor in truck. Everything else would stay the same.
If the 96 is mass air chances are it's also obd2 which would take more work to swap over

These two motors are the same except for a couple external OBD2 devices that were added on in '96, so the best solution is to strip off all wiring from the '96 and put it in with the '95 engine harness. If you plan to keep a functioning EGR system then the valve and tube from the '95 have to be moved over as well.

Thank you very much, it really helps going getting all the information I can get before jumping in. So it sounds like I need to unscrew the wire harness at the fire wall block ?and just direct swap there without going under the dash or instrument cluster.
