Started Monday morning-ish. 4" down pipe was hell to install, no room. Hind sight would of removed all emissions in engine bay first, would of saved many scraped knuckles lol. CCV and EGR deletes are great quality, added the coolant filtration you can see in a pic also. Intercooler/cold side piping looks awesome and fits well, did not use all of it. Cut down the supplied pipe for the air filter. Decided to use my butchered S&B air box frame, it bolts in place firmly and has a huge **** paper air filter and pre filter, this new kit relies on the high pressure boots firmly holding the intake in place, nothing else. With the roads here, 3' of unsecured intake tubing would be like running down 10 flights of stairs with a full on boner fer petes sake. LOL. Missing a section of delete piping but we have enough material to get by, ordering new SS delete hardware tomorrow. 4" ID magnaflow muffler to go on also, 20" body. Don't want lots of noise.
Should be running before noon tomorrow. All that's left is to install delete tuner, purge the cooling system, and drive. Methanol spray at a later date! Game on!!
That all looks great! Many have learned the hard way to tune first, and THEN start removing hardware. Most of the time there is no issue, but there have been occasions where after removing everything and putting the new stuff on, the tuner had issues, which meant undoing everything to get the truck to run until the tuning issue could be resolved.
I'm really digging that intake. Getting rid of that black plastic monstrosity makes a big difference in underhood appearance.
Any issues for you getting the EGR off and out of the way?
Thank you!! EGR was pretty easy compared to the intake plenum and down pipe. Everything is so greasy and filthy. Blows me away how dirty these engines have to be to burn everything down enough the exhaust smells like windex!! Maybe I should of tuned first, I did my other dually this way, hopefully there is no tuner issues. If there is....luckily I have nothing I need to tow for the next month, and I have other vehicles. Worst case I have a f550 shop truck to tow if needed. I don't anticipate problems, there have been a few Bullydog tuner issues but more related to needing to update firmware when you start your truck if it doesn't complete communication for monitoring. That takes 30 seconds and doesn't interfere with the tune while it's running.
I could imagine the DP being a PITA. Never thought about the intake plenum.
I'm sure your tuning will be fine. It is just one of those things where guys get caught off guard and no other transportation when it doesn't work right. You should be good to go!
To clarify, I myself have done literally SQUAT on this delete, I have mechanics, that don't love me that much this week LOL. Even if worst case the tuner was chaos, I can afford the down time for a substitute, I could even send it down to AMDP for dyno time if needed. Fortunate to have resources in my favor for this. Can't wait to try it, it pulled like mad before, we will see how it goes after....
On a deleted 2015, with intake already installed, running a tow AMDP tune, this intercooler/cold pipe kit added 26hp/75lbs to the wheels, pretty good IMO. Was one of the first to get it. Great shop and customer service, and in Canada too.
The mechanics get paid to do the crap jobs as well as the good jobs. They should just be happy they have jobs - lol. I'm glad that I get to complain about my job, instead of complaining about my lack of one. Good you had the resources to get the work done without busting your own knuckles - unless you really wanted to.
I used to do everything myself with all the toys, I realized 3 years ago, after my srt Cherokee sat on center stands in my shop for 18 months half way through a pro charger install and trans swap, I don't have the time myself anymore. I miss the wrenching, but a guys gotta set his priorities. Business is business
I understand. I still enjoy it as well, but my time is limited enough that I can only do what is necessary, and don't have much time left over for the "fun" stuff.
Running a bullydog tuner, allows monitoring and change on the fly tuning. I'm in central bc, AMDP is located down on Vancouver island. Can't wait to try it out!
