Help please
Hey I have a couple of questions for everyone here. i bought an 86 f150 with a 4.9L as far as i know the motor is stock but i know for a fact that i am missing the air pump on the truck. but i also have a straight yellow wire that is not hooked up to anything on the driver side by the firewall. ive tried hooking it up to a couple other wires that werent connected to anything. can someone tell me what that wire goes to. and i am also missing something right behind the washer fluid resiviour but i dont know what i am missing. and if possible i am looking for the vaccum line diagram preferrably one with a description of the terms. i can hook things up but im not particularly inclined when it comes to vaccum lines

It's virtually impossible to say what you might be missing without seeing some pictures (hint, hint).
If I'm thinking of the same yellow wire you're trying to describe, that's used for an optional camper or trailer lighting and can be left alone.

I agree with Chris - the yellow wire is surely the one to the camper package, which is shown here: Trailer Option - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Few trucks have that option.

The first picture shows your thumb under the PCV valve. The top fitting is probably blanked off, meaning not open. But the bottom one should be open and it should be connected via a big hose to a fitting on the back side bottom of the carb. And, on the other valve cover towards the rear there should be a hose going to the side of the air cleaner. However, in my experience the PCV valve should be in the other valve cover and the hose fitting where the PCV valve currently is.
The second pic shows the coolant overflow hose is missing. There should be a hose from the fitting in the top of the reservoir to the overflow fitting on the radiator's neck - right below the radiator cap.
The third pic shows a cruise control actuator, but it isn't one I recognize as the ones for these trucks basically go above the yellow wire you said isn't connected. But, not all trucks got them. If your horn pad doesn't have the control buttons your truck probably didn't come with cruise.

My presumption is that cruise-control thing is aftermarket.
That disconnected vacuum hose + disconnected PCV valve... *heavy sigh*
Please remove the air cleaner assembly and post additional pictures of the carburetor from several angles and include the top of the engine in them, thanks.

i will get more pictures of it on tuesday because i have to replace the oil pump gasket so i will get the pictures then

It has it, but it's not factory installed.
).Look at the lower pic: The 9C888 dealer installed Speed Control switch...clips onto the T/S handle.
9C735 is the dealer installed Speed Control servo. 9D757 is the dealer installed Speed Control module (Speed Control regulator).
9E799 is the dealer installed Speed Control vacuum reservoir.
