Uhh, yes. Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but that thing is fubar.
I know it looks like it's been sitting at the bottom of the ocean, but a friend pointed out the U joint to me. I painted and powder coated most of the front end, and I triple checked the front end for anything that would cause my vibrations. But I just overlooked the rear end after I overhauled the front end thinking I has missed something when I put the front back together.
I need some advice ..I have a wedding for this weekend and I was going to use the Ex to carry alot of wedding crap. I bought 3 U joints for the rear (2 was the same size). We pulled the drive shaft and u joints, until the last one on the universal joint and the U joint came apart. Now the universal joint is toast because the needles is laying at the bottom of it. Called Ford, the part isn't made anymore. I need the Ex tomorrow night. The drive shaft companies can't guarantee me that they will have time, so I found a junkyard that will sell me the part. Question is... am I missing or forgetting another option?
I'm assuming you need the centering cup that's in your last picture? The cup/bearing is replaceable on the yolk and most local auto parts dealers should be able to get or have this part.
Problem solved!!!! Replaced all 3 U joints and now I don't have to worry about losing fillings while I drive. Since I had the drive shaft out, decided to sand and paint everything. That was my way to feel better if the drive shaft shop couldn't fix it before I left for the wedding this weekend, and I found out that we're leaving as soon as I'm showered and packed. Thanks to everyone that gave suggestions with the rear end roaring. The roaring began as soon as I had replaced/painted/powder coated the front suspension with the exception of Springs and shocks, but I didn't want to believe that the U joints had failed as soon as we lowered the front end. I had jacked it up and had put my hand all over the driveshaft, and thought I could easily rule it out after all the work we did by pulling the front axle out. Take it from me guys searching for the vibrations and roaring...DO A BETTER JOB THAN ME!!!!

What year did switch to a double cardan style rear driveshaft on the Ex ? I don't have one of those....
