check the rear sway bar links.they are known to go bad and make a rattling noise when hitting bumps.

I jacked up the driver side and turned the axle. It didnt sound good at all.

I know that its the rear end but dont know how bad.

Planed on working on it this weekend, but going to TX insted.
I haul new cars for a living. got to make that money to put into the rear end.

I am confedent that I can do the job, was hoping for some insight.

I'm interested in this too. I know the clutch packs are shot in mine and I'm debating doing it myself or taking it to the shop. My summer toy is back on the road now so I can afford to have the truck down for a few days if need be.

I felt like crap last night, so I had to postpone my reply until today.

As for your rearend problems. Rebuilding the rear end isn't that difficult but it is a time consuming job. As long as you don't have to remove the gears it won't be bad. It sounds like your trac-lok is going out. What I would do is jack the truck up and pull the diff cover. When you pull the cover off you can examin the gears and make sure that they look fine. You can get a rebuild kit for the limited slip from Ford.

I would also check all the bushings in the rear end while you have the truck in the air.
