dbyrd342 - from your profile I see you are 23 - this is probably you first old-school engine. Before modern engines it was normal to add oil through the valve cover, or sometimes through the intake down into the lifter valley.
These old beasts are pretty primitive - I'm referring to the engines and trucks, not the forum members who are having some fun at your expense. Of course, it would be understandable to get the the two confused.
Welcome to the club of antique vehicle owners. First, post some details of your truck and pictures. Then get some engine degreaser and wash down the engine bay. Tell us how it runs and what you plan to do with it. You will find a lot of help here.
And yes, manuals help. I do prefer the paper ones as I don't mind getting grease on them, but the advantage of the electronic product is you can just print the relevant pages and take them to the garage.

Yup where a mean bunch when it comes to simple stuff, Yeah, I know we sometimes go over board. But if he had done a little investigating, I sure he would have found where oil filler was..
