And they seem annoyed when you call to ask if they managed to fix this very simple problem with standardized hardware with all their new builds. They say there are no new builds (even though they keep having new contents built almost every Saturday) and say go away, we'll call you if we ever fix it.
Why not take it to the dealer and have it done? I had problems installing my update so I havent had it done yet. When I get home I will have it done. What I cant figure out is why does the truck have to be running for 30 minuets just to install some software.

I'm willing to bet that dealers will have the same problem. I doubt there are two 'sources' for the update script. If anyone goes to a dealer, and it works please post back.
I'm almost ready to try the 'modifications' to the scripts as mentioned above...

If I practiced this approach with the clients running our software, I would not have any clients!
The owners website will not allow me to download the software update any longer.
It wants me to confirm the update with another downloaded program. So I downloaded the confirmation program and it ran no problem. Went back to the website to upload my software confirmation, thinking it would show that it hasn't updated and let me download again. But nope....up loaded the file and it says thanks....or whatever. Now the website is still wanting me to confirm update.
Yeah it looks like they're hiding the main way I used to go look for new updates for me, too. Try logging in (why can't it just keep me signed in, it's not like it's bank info??) and then paste in this URL: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account...p-to-date.html
I got there by logging in, selecting the "SYNC & VEHICLE FEATURES" tab near the top, and under the list of QUICK LINKS clicking the "Check for software updates" item.
And by the way, for DR3T-14D544-AF SYNC v4.4 they're still on 4117901922056063304_DR3T-14D544-AF.zip, which was their latest build attempt as of April 30. So there have been two Saturdays in a row they haven't silently released a new build. I don't know if this is a good sign, that they think they've got it solved (I haven't tried it yet, on the advice of the Sync phone reps), or a bad sign, that they're giving up. We'll see if they silently roll out a new build over the weekend.
I really, really, really hope they fix this. I've been waiting for nearly 5 years for Ford to finally fix my Sync in two areas, one a missing piece of functionality and the other a problem they introduced in an update:
1) The media input selected when I turn off the truck should be the media input selected when I next start the truck. So when I'm listening to Bluetooth Audio (as I am doing 99.9% of the time), I shut the truck off, get out, and the next time I get in and start it, it should connect Bluetooth and keep on with Bluetooth Audio. This is the way it works in my friend's truck that's the same year and model and everything of mine except that he has the nav screen while I do not. Instead, I have to wait for Bluetooth to eventually connect (which takes longer than it should regardless) and then wear the "Voice" button on the steering wheel to a mirror polish and say "Bluetooth Audio" and hope I've given it enough time to finish booting up. Half the time it acts like it heard nothing at all and goes through a long and tedious list of all the possible commands I could say.
2) Aside from the apparent inability to hear any spoken command until it's finished booting up (even though it has gotten far enough that it does prompt for a voice command when you press the Voice button), call commands don't work anymore. "Call Jon Doe" results in it immediately complaining that I didn't tell it who to call, "Please indicate whom to call." Over and over again. It's essentially made Sync mostly useless. I have to use Siri for everything, which is annoying because Sync is slow to switch from Bluetooth Audio to Bluetooth Phone, which then allows Siri to beep her readiness to receive a voice command, which after confirmation has to go through the Sync's slow "Call Ended" period, only to start up another "Calling..." cycle.
Ordered a new 16GB thumb drive, nicely formatted in FAT32, and this one almost worked. It said "INSTALLING" on the radio readout for over 3.5 hours until I eventually said screw this and turned the truck off. It then said "INITIALIZING" when I turned it back on again, which was encouraging, but it appears to not have actually installed anything. Of course, you can't just see what the version number is, either, which is amazing work by Ford and Microsoft.
