New Sync update will not install

Just bought a 2011 F250 that has Sync with Voice Activated Navigation. Having the same "Install file not found" problem as everyone else. Just downloaded the update file on Sunday. Fully reformatted the USB drive to FAT32, extracted the files, blah, blah, blah.... Don't think the previous owner ever updated the system.

I hope every update isn't this difficult.

I am in the exact same position with the same truck and sync. I have been going back and forth with a ford rep on this site with no luck yet.

The latest round of instructions are to perform a master reset and then try the update.

My update page says that I am up to date with ver. 4.4 for my Gen1 basic. There doesn't appear to be a ver. 4.6 available. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

No, 4.4 is the latest. They claim their constant tinkering with a Generally Available public release finally broke it but that it worked ok when it was first released? Hard to tell WTF is going on over there. It's a cluster ****.

I had some trouble doing the last sync update. What I ended up doing was download then unzip the files on my Windows 10 laptop (didn't work from my MacBook), format a 16GB flash drive and copy the unzipped files to the freshly formatted flash drive. After that I ran the install on the truck twice as I didn't get the final install complete the first time. Haven't had an issue since. I even updated my sister-in laws Escape with the same flash drive, that took two tries as well. Both vehicles now show current software for sync.

4.6 has been released, however, each update is vehicle specific.

Did the update get pulled from the website?

Went to download for the 3rd time and the update is not there, can't download.

And yes, I used IE cleared history...etc.

IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS HARD....!!!!

I now have an actual service ticket for my problem. I will try to post updates as I learn more. Software updates can be 'fun'.

Oh I've had a case open for a couple months. They keep silently releasing new builds, but they have yet to contact me as promised repeatedly, and nothing has been resolved. It's so incredibly frustrating. I work for a software company, and before that I was a network and systems admin since the late '90s. I know how software and firmware updates work. It is awe-inspiring how poorly this is being handled.

Same here, just always been on the development side since the late 80s. I try to be understanding, but it can get frustrating.

It doesn't appear this truck has ever been updated by the previous owner, so I would ASSume 4.4.
